If you’ve got fungal toenails, you might be a candidate for laser treatment. At Montgomery Foot Care Specialists, we offer FDA-approved Q-Clear laser to eliminate a fungus that causes your toenails to thicken, crumble, and become discolored. The Q-clear laser is a fast, affordable treatment for nail fungus.
When you make an appointment with one of our expert podiatrists, Dr. Heidi M. Christie or Dr. Chanda L. Day-Houts, we’ll examine your toenails, ask you how long you’ve suffered from the infection, find out what treatments you’ve tried in the past, and determine if you’re a candidate for Q-clear treatment. We then prepare the nails for treatment, including proper clipping or filing of the infected nail. Then, you’re ready for Q-clear.
How laser therapy works
The laser procedure takes place here in our Montgomery County office. A focused, concentrated beam of light is directed at the infected nails and penetrates through the nail to eradicate the fungus. There’s no anesthesia or other numbing agent required. Our patients have found the procedure to be painless, although some do feel a sensation of warmth. Q-clear laser therapy is safe, concentrating on the nail itself without harming the surrounding tissue.
Many of our patients only need one treatment, and they’re on their way to grow new, healthy toenails. Each treatment takes about 15-20 minutes. Best of all, there’s no recovery time at all. You can continue your regular activities beginning immediately after your appointment.
A viable option for many people
Laser treatment for fungal toenails is a great option when topical creams don’t work or when you can’t tolerate the many side effects of oral medications. It’s quicker and less time-consuming than those options. It’s more effective than home treatments you may have read about or attempted, such as applying apple cider vinegar or tea tree oil. Finally, we can also use the Q-Clear laser to treat other foot problems, including warts, tendonitis, heel pain, and other acute or chronic injuries.
